1. What classes does SJLC offer?
The San Jose Learning Center offer group classes and private lessons for over a dozen foreign languages. Our group classes are for teenagers and adults, and meet on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Our private lessons are for all ages and all levels. With private lessons, students may request the day, times, location and start date of their lessons.
2. How much are the classes?The class price depends on the class type. There are 4 class types available, which include Regular, Intensive, Crash Course, and Prime courses. A Double Crash Course covers two levels instead of one. To view the differences between the class types, please go to class types and prime class.
- Regular & Intensive courses: $299
- Prime courses: $349
- Gradual courses: $399
For most classes the price includes the materials, but some classes require the purchase of a textbook. Please see the language pages for the textbook requirements.
3. How much are the private lessons?SJLC offers 2 types of private lessons to fit your needs:
- Online Private: $50 - $65
- Online Semi-Private: $60 - $75
The Regular courses meet for 7 weeks, 1.5 hours per class.
The Intensive courses meet for 5 weeks, 1.5 hours per class. The Intensive classes are taught at a faster pace than the Regular classes, but cover the same content.
The Gradual courses meet for 10 weeks, 1.5 hours per class. The Gradual classes are taught at a slower pace than the Regular classes, but cover the same content, with extra practice.
Most of the group classes include all the materials needed for the course. Some group classes require students to purchase a book (link provided on the selected language webpage). Private lessons typically include materials, unless there is a book the teacher recommends for the students' specific need and focus.
6. How do I set up Private Lessons?SJLC offers private lessons for all the languages offered. Simply email us which subject you would like to learn and which days and times you prefer to schedule the lessons. It is beneficial to send us further details about the student, including approximate age, experience with the subject and goal for take the lessons. 7. How do I set up Corporate lessons?SJLC offers on-site Foreign Language lessons for Bay Area companies. Simply email us which language your company would like to learn, as well as which days, times and exact location. It is beneficial to send us further details about the students, including their experience with the language and how many students will be in each group. Email Us
8. When will the next program begin?SJLC offers a new program every two months. Most classes currently offered will be offered again the following program. The programs start the first week of: January/March/May/July/September/November

9. Where is SJLC located?The address is 3170 De La Cruz Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95054.
10. Is there public transportation near the school?Yes, there is a variety of VTA options that service the area. Please see the map HERE to view all public transportation options.
11. Does SJLC offer student Visas?No. SJLC does not issue any student Visas, including the I-20.
12. Does SJLC offer High School or College credit?No. SJLC classes do not qualify for High School or College credit.
13. Does SJLC offer Certificates for completing a program?Yes. SJLC students will receive a Certificate of Completion after completing a program. Requirements to receive this certificate is a 100% attendance record for the full program.
14. What happens if I miss a class during the program?If you miss a group class, you will not receive a free makeup class. However, to help you stay up to date with the class material, we do offer a 30 minute make up session for $15. This make up session is completely optional. 15. What if I have to miss or cancel a private lesson?You may reschedule your private lesson at no charge with a minimum of 24 hour notice. If you cancel your lesson within 24 hours or simply do not show up, the lesson will be considered taken.
